UK Polar Research

The UK has a long history of research in the Arctic region, including a research station in Svalbard open since 1991, and is now increasing its commitment through the establishment of the Arctic Office and funding for an Arctic Research Programme.

UK Arctic Research Priorities
Background to the increased visibility and investment by UK in the Arctic. These documents identify Arctic stakeholders, strategic research priorities and the context for UK polar research (both Arctic and Antarctic).

UK Arctic Researcher and Project Databases
A listing of projects funded by either UK or the EU (only those including UK researchers) together with a listing of UK researchers with Arctic interests. This provides a means to identify potential partners, specific expertise and background information for future research applications.

NERC Arctic Programme
The most significant recent UK commitment to the Arctic has been the establishment by NERC of the Arctic Research Programme which will operate from 2011–2016.
